An approved customer is not the same as a customer who can use every rail. Each fiat rail has its own status per customer, for deposits and for payouts, and it only turns Active once a banking partner has set the customer up on it.

1. Open Banking Capabilities

Open Customers, click the customer, and scroll to Banking Capabilities. It lists Fiat Deposit and Fiat Payout by currency, with one badge per rail. Hover a badge to see its status.

2. Read the status

If a rail stays Pending, contact support with the customer ID and the rail. The banking partner’s registration needs a look.

3. Find out why it’s unavailable

With a reason. When a check rules a rail out, the card’s Unavailable Capabilities section lists the rail with the reason, grouped by currency. These checks run when the customer’s latest verification is created. Without a reason. The rail is not offered for this customer. The common cases:
  • The customer’s region and type. EU and UK customers get a USD virtual account only as businesses. See Virtual accounts.
  • The rail itself. EUR and GBP payouts over SWIFT are not offered. FedNow is only for customers onboarded in the US. USD SWIFT payouts to individuals depend on your account setup: ask your MoonPay Enterprise contact.
  • Your account setup. A rail your partner account isn’t configured for is Unavailable for every customer.
_thirdparty rails are separate: a first-party rail can be Active while its third-party variant is Unavailable.

Do it over the API

GET /api/customers/{id}/abilities returns the same data:
  • fiat_deposit and fiat_payout: the status of each rail, for example fiat_payout.usd.ach
  • blocking_abilities: the reason for each rail a check ruled out, keyed by rail name. Empty when nothing is blocked
Subscribe to the customer_fiat_abilities webhook instead of polling. It delivers a full snapshot each time the customer’s rails are recomputed, for example when a Pending rail turns Active. See Ability status.
