# Fees and Invoices

> Configure the fees charged to your customers and understand how MoonPay Enterprise settles them.

Each transaction can include a transaction fee, banking fee, and network fee. Your fee profile controls what the customer pays. Your invoicing profile controls what you owe MoonPay Enterprise.

## Fee Fields

Quote and transaction responses return the following fee fields:

| Field | Description |
| - | - |
| `transaction_fee` | The percentage-based fee deducted immediately from the transaction. It includes the `iron_fee` when `iron_fee_settlement` is `deductedImmediately`, plus your partner fee. It excludes banking and network fees. |
| `iron_fee` | The fee you owe MoonPay Enterprise under your agreement, regardless of when it is settled. |
| `partner_fee` | The fee you charge the customer. Set it with `transaction_fee_bips` when you create a transactional fee profile. |
| `banking_fee` | The banking rail fee deducted immediately from the transaction. |
| `network_fee` | The blockchain network fee deducted immediately from the transaction. |
| `total_fee` | The total fee calculated for the transaction, including fees that are settled later. Do not use this field as the amount charged to the customer. |

Banking and network fees that are settled later remain available in `network_fees_with_settlement`, together with their settlement method.

## Fee Profiles

MoonPay Enterprise uses two fee profile types:

* The **invoicing fee profile** contains the fees you owe MoonPay Enterprise. We configure this profile based on your agreement.
* A **transactional fee profile** contains the fees you charge your customers. You can create multiple profiles and assign them to different customers or Autoramps.

When you create a transactional fee profile with `POST /api/fee-profiles`, its Iron fee settings are inherited from your invoicing fee profile.

| Request field | What it controls |
| - | - |
| `transaction_fee_bips_decimal` | Your percentage fee charged to the customer, in basis points, with fractions allowed (for example `"12.5"`). `100` bps equals `1%`. This fee is deducted immediately. Takes precedence over `transaction_fee_bips`. |
| `transaction_fee_bips` | Deprecated. The same fee rounded to a whole basis point. Still required on every request. |
| `banking_fee_configs` | The fixed fee charged for each configured banking rail and transfer direction. Banking fees created through this endpoint are deducted immediately. |
| `network_fee_settlement` | Whether the blockchain network fee is deducted immediately or settled on your monthly invoice. |

The API does not let you change the Iron fee, its settlement method, the minimum fee, or whether network fees are enabled. Contact MoonPay Enterprise to change these invoicing settings.

## Settlement Methods

Fee settlement has two possible values:

* `deductedImmediately`: The fee is deducted from the transaction amount. The customer receives the net amount.
* `settledLater`: The fee is not deducted from the transaction. It is added to your monthly invoice.

Partner fees created with `transaction_fee_bips` are configured for immediate deduction. You choose `network_fee_settlement` when you create the transactional fee profile. MoonPay Enterprise configures the Iron fee settlement method on your invoicing profile.

## Monthly Invoicing

The `transaction_fee` collected from your customer is netted against the `iron_fee` you owe MoonPay Enterprise. For percentage-based fees calculated on the same transaction amount:

| Comparison | Invoice result |
| - | - |
| `transaction_fee` is higher than `iron_fee` | The difference is payable to you. |
| `transaction_fee` equals `iron_fee` | The fees offset each other. There is nothing left to settle for these fees. |
| `transaction_fee` is lower than `iron_fee` | You subsidize the difference. The balance is added to your invoice. |

Banking fees, network fees, minimum commitments, and other contracted charges are settled separately and also appear on the monthly invoice when applicable.
